Bloomin’ Marvellous - But What next?
Many lessons have been learnt over the past four years and Bloomin’ Marvellous is going to be carried into the future, going from strength to strength. The nursery has successfully established in its new location and will continue to provide employment, intermediate labour market opportunities and modern apprenticeships for the future. The community enterprise has developed substantially selling plants, tubs and baskets to the local residents and business. Over the longer term we hope the nursery will develop to provide plants for the local council. The learning support branch of the nursery is also going extremely well and all the schools in the village and even some from the neighbouring small town have visited the nursery’s classroom.

We will continue to build on our past achievements and stimulate community and business support, encouraging more and more volunteers to participate over the following year. This will involve more hard work and of course community contribution.
Northumbria in Bloom is not just about tidying up the general area or appearance but also involves other conservation aspects such as recycling, community participation and environmental cleanliness. The judging criteria for Northumbria in Bloom consists of floral displays, permanent landscaping, local agenda 21 and sustainable development, local environmental quality and public awareness.
The planning involved for our entry will be dependant on gaining sufficient support from every part of community including residents, businesses, local authorities, councils, schools and the parish council.
Throughout the year we hope to have many more fundraising events.
Bloomin’Marvellous has not ended, this is only the beginning!
